Can I Afford It?

Can I Afford It?

Can you afford not to?

The more accurate question here, given the many benefits of camp, is can you afford not to? Just as there is a camp for every child, there is a camp for every budget. According to the ACA Web site, many camps offer special discounts for such things as early registration and multiple enrollments. Some camps also offer “camperships,” which can be partial or total scholarships and financial assistance.

The U.S. government also offers programs that can aid with camping costs. Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Child and Dependent Care Tax Credits and income-eligible subsidy programs can all help offset the costs. Parents who are interested should visit the FSA Feds Web site and the Internal Revenue Service Web site for information.

While cost can be a determining factor, it should not be THE determining factor. The benefits of camp are priceless, and the values learned last a lifetime.
